We’re two sisters (Alicia and Chloe) who have been making English toffee and other treats since we were little. Our dream of opening our own treat shop started when Alicia was in grad school and regularly made treats to take over to our brother’s house where our sister-in-law, upon seeing her come in the door, would say, “The fat fairy is here with fat bombs.” The name stuck. The fairy in our logo was inspired by our grandmother, Dorothy, who always inspired us in the kitchen. And it was our mom who taught us how to make toffee and always welcomed our help in the kitchen (or at least made us feel that way). This truly is a family business.

We launched The Fat Fairy in December of 2020 on a lovely marketplace app called West Tenth, which was a great way to test the waters on this idea. Our own website was the next step in this journey, and someday, we plan to open a brick and mortar shop.
